HAPPY 4th! from Shoreham » Long Island, New York / by Vivian Chen

Even though I've lived in California for almost two decades, there really is nothing quite like an East Coast Fourth of July. Especially in the village of Shoreham, where my husband grew up and where his parent have spent the past 40+ years living. Every Fourth of July, the town has a mini parade where local kids decorate their bikes and ride down the street behind a marching band. It all culminates at the the Village Hall down on the beach where speeches and live music entertain the crowds before everyone is treated to free hot dogs, beer and ice cream. This small town USA community celebration truly is something special enough to fly all the way from California to experience. And now, we're headed up the East Coast for some more New England summer fun in Maine. Follow along on my Instagram or Snapchat (vivianpchen) for more adventures!
