Comal Restaurant Wedding » Oakland, California » Erin Prado for VCP
Annie and Habeeb met on the East Coast, but chose to celebrate their wedding in the Bay Area to be closer to Annie's family, especially Annie’s 94 year old grandmother. Their summer wedding began at the historic Berkeley City Club, where they got ready and shared a first look at the bocce ball court before heading over to Comal Restaurant with their wedding party of close friends. The couple chose a restaurant wedding because food and hospitality are deeply important to them, and they wanted to ensure their guests were treated to an incredible dining experience. Their ceremony took place at Comal, officiated by a close mutual friend, with additional readings shared by family members and friends who each brought their own perspectives on love and commitment. After exchanging vows, Annie and Habeeb snuck outside for portraits around downtown Berkeley, capturing the character and energy of the city before returning to the celebration. Guests were treated to a festive cocktail hour featuring a special performance by the Art of Freedom dabke dance troupe, with Annie and Habeeb joining in the traditional line dance that symbolizes unity, community, and resilience—values perfectly suited for a wedding celebration. As everyone settled in for dinner, they enjoyed a delicious Mexican meal prepared by Comal while friends and family shared sweet and hilarious toasts that had the room roaring with laughter and reaching for tissues. The evening's energy stayed high as the dabke dance troupe kicked off more dancing, and guests filled the floor to celebrate Annie and Habeeb well into the night. Their wedding was a beautiful reminder that when you center your celebration around what truly matters to you—whether that's family, food, or community—you create something genuinely unforgettable.
