Roberts Regional Recreation Area + Good Stock Garden Wedding » Oakland, California

Jen and Mariah's wedding at Roberts Regional Recreation Area and the Good Stock Garden in Oakland was a full, joyful expression of who they are: queer, multicultural, and boldly themselves. The redwood canopy at Roberts Regional, one of the East Bay's most beloved parks, set the scene for an outdoor ceremony surrounded by lanterns, ribbons, and colorful blooms that felt both intimate and alive. Jen's Taiwanese heritage shaped much of the visual language of the day with pinks and reds inspired by Chinese New Year and a Vegas sunset, with Chinese lanterns and fabrics woven throughout the space. The day started with some portraits in the redwood grove at Joaquin Miller Park across the street, allowing Jen and Mariah some alone time together. Afterwards, we headed over to their ceremony where their good friend officiated their nuptials before inviting everyone to the Good Stock Garden in Piedmont. A custom neon sign reading "Everyone is Gay", a nod to the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, anchored the reception in the intimate garden space and said everything that needed to be said. Mariah wore a sparkling dress, Jen stepped out in a head-turning maroon suit, and both changed into red traditional attire for the reception, honoring Jen's heritage in a way that felt genuine rather than performative. Nearly everything in the garden was made by hand: the florals, the stationery, the decorations — all DIY made possible with a flower prep pizza party the night before where friends and family gathered to help cut and arrange the blooms. Rainbow suncatcher stickers featuring the pincushion protea went home with every guest. This Oakland wedding is a reminder that the most meaningful celebrations are built from the inside out: from heritage, from community, from the specific and irreplaceable details that make a couple who they are.
